Duct Tape Highway

Nothing like seeing a former lover for a song topic or a self-destructive binge..I prefer the former these days. This one has some great harmony and guitar parts, but haven't recorded it..yet! I think this would be perfect for that long haired guy from Texas. If you know him , play it for him...

What Up? Many Hats

Recently I've been getting asked, "What's up?" a lot by friends and fans. There's a lot to cover. After narrowing the focus down a little, it turns out the question is usually about"When Are you going to have a new CD?". Short answer is, "I dunno". A more complete answer is "I'm hoping to do a new studio project in 2015.."

Oh no..Pono? What's the deal

PONO Music has gotten over $4,000,000 in pledges for their Music player on Kickstarter.com in a week(their goal was $800,000 and they have 25 days to go). While the fact that Neil Young has been the force behind it and the lead spokesperson for Pono, it is really encouraging. While the player looks cool, it is in many ways secondary.

Lucille-journey from doo wop to idiosyncronicity..

Spent the weekend working on website stuff and working on bits for a new song, "Lucille". It started off as doo wop, but I've scaled that back a bit and it is taking a different path. Parts have morphed into a more languid feel with some twang bar guitar replacing the more old school R& B lead...doo wop is still there but more sparing, got some arranging to do on the bridge which should be cool if I can make it work. Saturdy night I was messing with it and I could hear my neighbors singing along.. :-D I think it is kinda catchy, for such an idiosyncratic approach.

New Years Eve 2013/14

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne ?

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

New Album Project?

In the last few weeks, I've been asked by some folks about my "next project".. both from musicians and fans. My answers have been all over the map, as I really don't have an answer.. While I am writing (and occasionally record tunes at home), there is no concrete plan, like the one that drove "The Project" and the recording fo "Take A Chance". Suggestions have included an 'acoustic' project, a traditional blues kind of thing, more instrumental music, a "LIVE" recording and on and on. Alot of these ideas would require funding, a campaign on Kickstarter of PledgeMusic might be required.

Hannukah and Thanksgiving

For the first time in over 100 years Hannukah and Thanksgiving overlap. While I'm not devout by any means, the story of Hannukah resonates with me, and I try and say a prayer and light the candles as an expression of faith. That is the basis of the holiday, A lamp that was lit in the reclaimed temple with only enough oil for one day lasted for eight. Whether a actual miracle happened doesn't matter to me. It is a powerful allegory about the value of faith. Thanksgiving is pretty well known.

August 1-checkin' in

Had a great time at the Pig ' n Whistle last night. We got a late start, so I didn't do an acoustic set. Instead I wound up sitting in w/ George Foster Willie Andrescu and Pierre for their set. Big fun, wound up playing slide on a number of tunes, which went over well. George and the guys hit it hard, which forced me to step out a little more than I usually do. George is a great player and always is fun to play with , though some time I just want to sit back and listen.. Afterwards the jammers came up. A wide range of styles and everyone who played was on top form.
